Our Nusa Penida One Day Trip Experience

Nusa Penida was one of our side trips during our Bali adventure, alongside hiking Mt. Bromo and Mt. Ijen. After returning to Bali, friends suggested doing a One day Nusa Penida Itinerary. They connected us with a local tour agency that handled all arrangements.

We left Bakung Sari Resort and Spa in Kuta early in the morning and arrived at Sanur Port around 8:00 AM. The fast boat ride took about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

East Nusa Penida: Rumah Pohon Molenteng & Thousand Islands Viewpoint

We arrived at Nusa Penida around 9:00 AM, where our driver and guide were already waiting. After a quick stop at a convenience store for snacks, we headed to our first destination on the east side of the island—Rumah Pohon Molenteng (Tree House).

The drive took just over an hour, navigating narrow, steep, and winding roads—a roller coaster of an adventure. Having a local driver was essential, and the coastal views along the way were stunning.

We reached the Tree House a little past 10:00 AM. The entrance fee—around IDR 25,000–50,000 per person—includes access to the Tree House and nearby viewpoints. After paying, we walked down a series of stairs and were immediately rewarded with sweeping cliff and ocean views.

Before heading to the Tree House and Thousand Islands Viewpoint (Pulau Seribu), we stopped at an upper viewpoint near the entrance—perfect for quick photos of the cliffs and ocean. While waiting in line for the Tree House, we explored Thousand Islands Viewpoint, which the Tree House overlooks. The scattered limestone islets rising from turquoise waters made it a perfect alternative photo spot away from the crowd.

We waited about 30 minutes for our turn at the Tree House. Once called, we had around 5 minutes to take photos and videos. The dramatic cliffside views made every minute worth it.

Diamond Beach was not included in our itinerary due to time constraints—it requires a steep descent and climb back up, which would have affected the rest of our One day Nusa Pineda itinerary schedule.

After finishing our photos, we headed back to the entrance and made our way to Kelingking Beach, located on the west side of Nusa Penida. The drive from the Tree House area took approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
