Hinugtan Beach Travel Guide: How to Get to Hinugtan Beach

Getting there is pretty easy. If you already know how to get to Boracay, then getting to Hinugtan is just as simple. Once you get to the Caticlan port, there are plenty of transportation options like tricycles or habal-habal to take you there.

Here’s the complete guide on how to get there from Manila.

Step 1: Fly to Caticlan

  • From: Manila
  • To: Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (Caticlan)
  • Duration: ~1 hour
  • Airlines: Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, AirAsia
  • Tip: Book early for lower fares, especially during the dry season.

Step 2: Travel to Brgy. Alegria, Buruanga

  • Mode of Transport: Tricycle or van from Caticlan Airport
  • Travel Time: 30–45 minutes
  • Estimated Fare: ₱300–₱500 per tricycle (can be shared)

Step 3: Reach Hinugtan Beach

Option A: Tricycle or Habal-Habal Ride

  • Distance: Approximately 12 km from Caticlan Port
  • Travel Time: Around 30–40 minutes
  • Cost: Approximately ₱350 per tricycle; ₱250–₱300 per person for habal-habal
  • Details: Tricycles and habal-habal (motorcycle taxis) are readily available at Caticlan Port. The ride is mostly on paved roads, making it a convenient choice for most travelers. Upon arrival, you may need to walk a short distance to the beach, as the final stretch is unpaved and can be steep.

Option B: Combination of Tricycle and Short Trek

  • Route: Tricycle to Brgy. Bel-is → 45-minute hike to Hinugtan Beach
  • Details: For those seeking a more adventurous route, you can hire a tricycle to Brgy. Bel-is, the starting point for a scenic hike through the mountains to Hinugtan Beach. This trek offers picturesque views but requires a moderate level of fitness.

In our case, we first arrived in Iloilo and traveled to Caticlan Port. It was already midnight when we arrived, and luckily, there were some habal-habal drivers who offered us a ride straight to the Hinugtan drop-off point. After a 30–45-minute ride, we took a short trek down to the beach and its small local community.
